In October 2022, many international companies will again be heading to the Dubai World Trade Centre for a new edition of GITEX GLOBAL.
Together with local organizations, government entities, and a range of institutions from across the MENA region (the Middle East and North Africa) – and many other places – they will show their technological solutions and the digital innovations, enabling digital business and the digital economy of today and tomorrow.
GITEX 2022 (the 42nd edition of the event) takes place from October 10 to October 14, with seven co-located shows/events, under one roof. The overarching motto: “Believe the hype; it’s here. Enter the next digital universe at GITEX GLOBAL”.
Together they account for over 1000 speakers and representatives from over 170 countries who aim to accelerate digital transformation excellence and where public and private sectors meet (with over 4000 global companies).
The seven main shows and two new dedicated focus areas at GITEX in 2022
GITEX GLOBAL is the first of the seven events, say “the big event, ” lasting the whole week through October 14.
The same goes for Ai Everything, which is hosted by the UAE’s Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy & Remote Work Application Office. Ai Everything promises a more nuanced understanding of artificial intelligence technology today and its long-term potential.
New this year is the Global Dev Slam, where all eyes are on the world of coding and coders. Microsoft, Oracle, and Red Hat are the founding partners, but there is also a host of organizations that are contributing to the conference program and bringing together the ecosystem of developers. Global DevSlam will also see the launch of PyCon MEA, and aims to be the region’s largest conference for developers and DevOps.
Also new is GITEX IMPACT, where sustainability is central and which describes itself as the first event focused on green technology and ESG (environmental, social, and governance, a topic that has become increasingly important in third-party risk management and integrated risk management overall) in the region. But sustainability is a topic elsewhere too. For example, many of Ai Everything’s announcements fit in a context of sustainability (where AI plays an important role).
Next is Fintech Surge, where financial technology, a.k.a. FinTech, and its application and evolution is the central theme. Another one of the seven specialized GITEX events is the Future Blockchain Summit with some finance, but distributed ledger tech is and aims to be so much more.
Of course, Web 3.0 and the so-called metaverse where blockchain is essential (and NFTs, AR, VR, and so much more play a role) couldn’t be absent at GITEX 2022.
Visitors will discover the metaverse as they’ve never seen it with leading and pioneering virtual world platforms, global brands, and government entities immersing you in what they do at X-Versa (also new this year), per GITEX. Do note that Dubai has a Dubai Metaverse Strategy that looks to add $4 billion to its economy by 2030.
There is Marketing Mania for the Martech sector, and everyone is interested in or looking for marketing technology wisdom, partnerships, or solutions. And last but not least, the start-up community obviously is not forgotten with North Star Dubai, the new name for what was previously known as GITEX Future Stars.
We will soon bring you some more details about several of the events and look at developments in the MENA region across several areas, including some covered in this brief article, but also significant digitalization and Industry 4.0 trends and how/why in the MENA region technologies are leveraged most.
In the meantime, you can look at the main event’s website – or register for the event(s) here.
